Nutritional Therapist in Edinburgh Consultation:
Initial Consultation: £100
- free initial telephone conversation if required
- Analysis prior to session of your completed questionnaire
- Initial consultation
- Written report –including dietary plan, recipes, supplement recommendations.
- Functional testing recommendations
Please note: if you order tests that require me to write a further report of my findings, I will inform you of this and charge you £60 pro rata to write the report. Most take approx 30 minutes to write up.
Step 1: Initial consultation
Face to Face or via Skype or Facetime.
The first consultation lasts 90 minutes. The first part of this session is information gathering so that we can get a detailed picture of your health. The aim is to find out what will be the best way to proceed for you. Further testing may be recommended to help determine the cause of your health issue and to help you feel well as soon as possible. This is not always necessary. The tests may be done with your GP or through private medical labs. Common ones we organise are digestive tract investigations, total thyroid screens, nutrient deficiencies and food intolerances.
We then agree on a dietary programme for the following month. We would like you to see some positive changes in this month, but it is very important that you feel the plan is achievable, motivating and fits in with your lifestyle. You may also be recommended supplements if appropriate.
You will also get a written report. This will vary upon your requirements, but expect to come away knowing what to eat for your meals and snacks each day.
Follow up Consultations 45 minutes (at approx. 4 week intervals)
£60 face to face or via skype
Phone mini-consultations and follow up consultations are booked in at the end of your initial consultation and last around 45 mins. These are used to take you forward in your steps towards achieving your goals. We will change your protocol as is necessary, and also act upon any test results from the 1st consultation. We are very happy to write to your GP if that is appropriate. There will be a small charge for this.
Please note that cancellations and amendments to arranged sessions need to be made 48 hours or more in advance. Failing this, a full fee is charged unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Clients can pay by card, cheque or cash.
Very often supplements such as vitamins, minerals, digestive aids or herbs are recommended to give you the quickest route to good health. They certainly don’t replace a natural, healthy diet but they can have noticeable benefits. Supplements vary widely in quality and, as a nutritionist, the ones I recommend are in formats which the body finds easy to utilize. For example: vitamin C with bioflavanoids (as it would be in nature) and probiotics which have been researched extensively and are more likely to survive the journey to your gut and then colonise.
In certain cases tests are advised to help determine the underlying causes of your symptoms. All tests get sent to professional labs, some of which are in the UK, and others in the States. Some examples of tests I carry out are:
- Stool analysis (bacteria, parasites, viruses, yeasts, inflammatory markers)
- Intolerance Test (IgG and Complements)
- Cyrex Arrays (including wheat and gluten sensitivity)
- Full thyroid screen (TSH, T4, T3, autoimmune antibodies, plus heavy metals and minerals known to impact thyroid health)
- Adrenal screen (cortisol, DHEA)
- Female Hormone Panel (cortisol, DHEA, plus charts progesterone, oestrogen and testosterone throughout the month)
- SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) breath test
- Oxidative Stress
- Methylation Panel
- Hair mineral analysis
The detailed results enable us to work out the most efficient protocol as quickly as possible and, where appropriate, can save you time and money in the long-term.
